IE Enhanced Security Configuration (ESC) shows up in both Servers 2003 and 2008 but it’s unreasonably painful in Server 2008. In essence, it protects you from the big, bad internet by effectively cutting you off from it. As luck would have it, as an admin you can neuter it quickly.
- Fire up Server Manager. Be sure that you have select “Server Manager” at the top of your Nav Tree on the left.
- In the right hand column of the “Security Information” section, click Configure IE ESC.
- You can flip ESC on or off for both Admins and Users.
There you go. Now, get out there, and stay out of trouble.
