Rocking a Zero Content Domain with Adsense for Domains

So you just bought a domain because you can’t believe how awesome your idea is. That’s right, save-the-kittens.com is yours and you’re gonna burn the world down with it’s glory. Except you have no content. And thanks to the massive unfinished bathroom remodel hanging over your head, it’s going to be that way for a while.

Enter Google Adsense for domains.  Adsense for domains let’s you blanket your parked domain with in-the-meantime-money-making-goodness until you get around to deploying your permanent content.  “How?” you plead?  My brain at your service.

Just pop open your Google Adsense account and click on the “Adsense Setup” tab.  You’ll get a list of options.  The one that you’re looking for is titled (this is tricky now)  “Adsense for Domains”.

Click the “Add new domains” button.  Enter your domain name and choose the language that you want your ads to show up in.

Next, the wizard will add your domain to the pending list and walk you through the necessary DNS changes.  Follow their instructions and update your DNS records.

Now just sit back and wait for your domain to be approved.  Most that I’ve seen go through in an hour or two.  Google of course does reserve the right to bounce your request if they feel that your domain name is obscene.  If that does happen, follow the provided instructions on how to file an appeal.  Much to my surprise I actually heard back.  Not quickly, but I did.  save-the-kittens.com started it’s life on the banned-list.
